“We’re excited to see that the over thirty years of collective industry experience our management team brings to FrontPoint has been successful at positioning our company as the true leader in next generation home security.”

A big-time career on Wall Street can be considered a dream job – and it was for FrontPoint Security CEO Chris Villar and CFO Aaron Shumaker – until they saw the chance to break out on their own. Yesterday’s New York Times features FrontPoint Security, the leader in next-generation, wireless alarm systems, and discusses how Villar and Shumaker used their experience at Goldman Sachs to start their own company from the ground up. FrontPoint has since more than quadrupled in size and is considered the biggest up and coming player in the home security industry.

“We started FrontPoint to fill a void in the home security industry,” said Villar. “Both Aaron and I worked with alarm companies on Wall Street and saw the ins and outs of the industry and learned that companies need better technology and customer service. We used our mutual experiences at Georgetown and in finance to make sure that FrontPoint filled this void and was not only a financially successful company, but also a valuable and well-run company that puts a tremendous focus on delivering an unusually exceptional customer experience.”

The New York Times article highlights previous Goldman Sachs employees and what they learned from their time on Wall Street. Villar and Shumaker’s Wall Street careers, which they proactively left in 2007 well before the economy crashed, taught them to make big moves when the time is right. The article also highlights FrontPoint’s innovative approach to shaking up the traditional alarm system market by “emphasizing do-it-yourself installation and wireless control through PDAs, cell phones, and the Internet.”

“We believe the alarm industry is going through big changes,” Villar said. “We’re excited to see that the over thirty years of collective industry experience our management team brings to FrontPoint has been successful at positioning our company as the true leader in next generation home security.”
