New release of Crafter rivet enables rapid development of content-rich Web applications using JSP and Spring MVC, offering seamless integration with enterprise-grade Web content management systems like Alfresco.

Rivet Logic Corporation, a leading professional services and consulting firm focused on open source content management and collaboration solutions, officially released the JSP and Spring MVC versions of Crafter rivet, an open source Web content delivery framework. Crafter rivet was originally launched back in September of 2009, offering Web application developers an open source framework for building content-rich applications, including next generation enterprise Web sites, portals, and social networking platforms.

Crafter rivet provides the foundation for quickly building high-performance, flexible Web content delivery systems - delivering content that is managed by Web content management systems like Alfresco WCM. Built as an enterprise-grade Java platform, Crafter rivet provides a solid infrastructure that not only integrates well with enterprise systems and deployment infrastructure, but also supports a full-range of presentation-tier technologies with its Java- and REST-based APIs.

The newly released JSP and Spring MVC versions of Crafter rivet adds another layer of functionality for seamless integration with JSP and Spring MVC based Web applications. The JSP version includes features such as Tag library-based development, a built-in Tag library to build navigation menus, tree menu sample, and Web framework independency. The Spring MVC version is based on the MVC pattern and leverages the Spring MVC based Web application development environment. It also enables POJO based development, a layered approach, and provides a foundation for both SpringSurf Web applications and SpringBlazeDS Rich Web Applications. Before Crafter rivet was launched to the broader community as an open source project, Rivet Logic had already deployed it for a wide variety of client projects, and major enterprise adoption has since accelerated. Numerous sites are in production and even more are under development for companies that span a variety of vertical markets including telecom, technology, consumer products, higher education, and media/publishing.
