The long time non-profit cable TV organization NHTV has come up with an innovative new way to raise money to support their local public, educational and governmental television programming for the community. Like other nonprofit groups who provide community services, NHTV is experiencing a problem that most non-profits are currently facing, the fact that in tough economic conditions such as these, the amount of fundraising income is drastically reduced. Walter Mann, the station's executive director says, "Last year, our key annual fundraising effort, the NHTV Fresh Fruit Fundraiser, suffered a drop of 60% in fundraising income." He says that in order to continue to operate programs like their successful internship program for middle school and high school students and coverage of local elections and community events, they need to come up with a way to make up that 60%. Gold may be the answer.
NHTV has contracted with a very reputable and upscale gold buying organization for a fundraiser with a twist: instead of asking for money they will be giving away money. They are putting on an event that gives supporters money for old gold they may have, with a percentage going to NHTV. The company Gold Buying USA will be organizing an event on behalf of the TV station and giving back a portion to them. "NHTV looks forward to partnering with Gold Buying USA in this fundraiser, in which a portion of the proceeds will benefit NHTV," said Walter. Local residents can bring old or broken jewelry, or anything gold, to the event for evaluation and to trade it in for dollars. The event will take place at the Holiday Inn in North Haven, Friday, March 19th from noon until 7PM, and Saturday, March 20th from 10AM to 8PM.
