Premiere Hotel and Suites Named the First "Green Lodging Property" in New Haven

The Premiere Hotel and Suites, New Haven’s only extended stay hotel, is proud to announce that on February 2, 2010 the hotel received certification as a Green Hotel by the State of Connecticut Department of Environmental Protection. The hotel is the first and only Green Hotel in the Greater New Haven area.

Governor M. Jodi Rell announced the program in July 2009 and Premiere is one of the first hotels to be certified. Connecticut Green Lodging—Accommodating You and Our Environment is a program to encourage – and recognize – lodge owners who implement environmentally friendly practices. “Connecticut is going ‘green’ in so many ways,” Governor Rell said. “We are leading the nation in so many areas of conservation, renewable energy and environmental protection. Now we are leading with ‘green lodging.’”

The State’s process includes a comprehensive review of the following areas within each property: Waste Management, Administrative Offices, Housekeeping, Landscaping and Maintenance, Heating, Air Conditioning and Ventilation (HVAC); Swimming Pools and Spas, Guest and Staff Rooms, Water Conservation, Education, Kitchen and Food and most importantly – Energy.

Premiere Hotel and Suites strives to be the eco leader in the New Haven hotel market with 49+ current environmental initiatives in place to reduce our impact on the environment. Some of the eco-practices at the Premiere All Suite Hotel in New Haven, include:
