Adapting to change confidently is the focus of a high-energy keynote presentation by Second City Communications (SCC) as one of three general sessions at the May 2010 International Conference & Exposition of the American Society for Training & Development (ASTD) in Chicago.

Second City Communications is the innovative learning and training division of the world-renowned improvisation theatre company, The Second City.

The ASTD International Conference and Exposition is a premiere forum for learning and development professionals, attracting attendees from more than 70 countries and featuring experts and organizations covering all aspects of the field.

The conference runs from May 16-19 at Chicago’s McCormick Place convention facility. The keynote presentation by Second City Communications is on May 19 from 3:00-4:00 PM.

“Nearly every organization is grappling with change today and the pressure is on to be focused, nimble, and adaptive at the individual, team, and organizational levels,” said Tom Yorton, CEO of Second City Communications. “Adapting to change has been our stock in trade for 50 years as the world’s leading improvisation theatre. We excel at helping clients become more flexible and confident in order to thrive when challenging times sometimes call for working without a script,” added Yorton.

Second City Communications draws on the core competencies of The Second City – engaging audiences and improving performance – to develop training and internal communications programs, ranging from leadership development to managing change, increasing sales force effectiveness, and building awareness around ethics and compliance issues.

In more than 400 client events a year, mostly for Fortune 1000 companies, SCC employs a blended approach of live sessions, video shorts, and web-based programming to build skills, develop talent, heighten awareness, and help clients address core challenges and/or sensitive topics.

“We’re very pleased to welcome Second City to the ASTD 2010 International Conference & Exposition in Chicago,” said Tony Bingham, ASTD President and CEO. “Helping our conference participants understand how to better manage change within their organizations—especially in today’s challenging economic environment—will provide them with important tools they can use on the job,” Bingham added.
