overstockArt.com’s “Women in Art” Twitter® sweepstakes, which commenced on International Women’s Day on Monday, March 8, 2010, has already reported a large following. The sweepstakes, which honors National Women’s History Month, has created a considerable stir in the online realm, specifically on Twitter.
“We wanted to come up with an innovative way to honor Women’s History Month and give consumers the chance to interactively join in on the celebration,” said Stacy Sasson, co-founder of overstockArt.com. “Just a week into the sweepstakes, we have seen a huge spike in our Web site traffic and on our Twitter fan page. We are excited to see how this trend continues until the sweepstakes concludes at the end of the month.”
The “Women in Art” sweepstakes, which started on Wednesday, March 8 and runs through Wednesday, March 31 at 11:50 p.m., is an online promotion that lets consumers send a Twitter® message that automatically enters them in a sweepstakes. Three (3) people will win a 20” x 24” inch museum quality handmade oil painting reproduction featured in the Women’s Gallery, http://www.overstockart.com/women.html. Sweepstakes winners will be selected and announced the week following March 31st.
To enter the contest, participants may choose to post an original tweet, to re-tweet the tweet listed on the sweepstakes homepage: http://www.artcorner.com/press/twitter-promo/, or to re-tweet another entrant’s tweet. All tweets must include #overstockArt to be eligible.
“Women have made a significant contribution to the arts, so this is a perfect opportunity for overstockArt.com to join in the celebration of National Women’s History Month," stated Sasson. “We are pleased to feature oil paintings from three trailblazing female artists – George O’Keeffe, Fridha Kahlo and Mary Cassatt – on our site. Their masterpieces are some of the more popular oil paintings that we sell.”

The gallery features a large variety of masterpieces created by famous female artists and featuring famous women.
