It is a privilege to work with Trips for Kids and to help youth. I want to see more kids experience the joy of bicycling.

Shuttleguy Tours has created a new donation program in support of Trips for Kids®, a nonprofit organization that works to bring the world of cycling to disadvantaged children.

Shuttleguy will donate $1 for every person who signs up for the company’s Twitter feed (, becomes a Facebook fan ( or signs up for the Shuttleguy newsletter ( before the end of the month. Since the program was announced in the company’s last newsletter, hundreds of people have signed up.

“I want to see more kids experience the joy of bicycling,” said Tym Allison, Shuttleguy Tours owner and operator. “I really respect the Trips for Kids organization – who they serve and what they do. It started as one person trying to make a difference, and now there are chapters around the world. As the owner of a bike-related business, I want to support efforts that let more people enjoy the simple pleasure of riding a bike and seeing more of the world around them.”

Marilyn Price founded Trips for Kids in 1986 with the intent to give a new perspective and experience to inner-city kids she served meals to as a volunteer in San Francisco. In 1994 the organization added the Re-Cyclery bike shop and programs such as Earn-A-Bike. To date, more than 60 chapters in the United States, Canada and Israel have exposed more than 60,000 children to cycling.

Shuttleguy Tours, which has been organizing and leading tours for 4 years, offers five tours in the Wisconsin area for 2010, including Wisconsin State Parks Ride (WISPRIDE) June 6-11; Tri-State Ride July 5-9; and Bike Ride Exploring Wisconsin (BREW), a tour exploring local craft brewers, Aug. 9-13.
