PowerInMotion started in 2001 was the original electric bicycle shop in Calgary. Over the past nine years it has grown from being a supplier of electric bikes to developing its own systems. The engineering team is always developing and testing out new systems to expand the product line. Growth took them from an online store to a thriving operation in downtown Calgary, where you can meet with the team and test ride all forms of bikes and models to help you choose the one that is best for you. If you can’t find something to suit you on site, one can be built to your specifications.

BayCycle and Sports has been in business since 1970, providing award winning service through hard work and dedication in Pickering, Ontario and the Greater Toronto area. Celebrating 40 years of business they begin an expansion into the world of electric bikes.

PowerInMotion and BayCycle and Sports have been working together for a few years to provide electric bicycles to Eastern Canada on a smaller scale. However 2009 saw a tremendous growth in the demand for these bikes across North America, and so these two experts have joined forces to provide exceptional quality and service to all customers. Having a warehouse and distribution center in both the east and the west means faster delivery on orders; two physical locations for customers to test ride, if they choose to do so; improved support on questions or trouble shooting and just simply two retail stores where customers can meet the teams face to face.

This Spring three new kits are being introduced to choose from; the PicaMotion TM - is the value entry level kit, intended for light riders under 180 lbs, while providing some stealth and assistance; the MegaMotion TM - is the mid range or more popular kit suited for riders under 230 lbs looking for alternative transportation on their daily commute; and lastly the GigaMotion TM - is the high performance kit, providing a higher speed, higher torque and heavy duty workload. Good for use on cargo bikes or riders taking on steep terrain.

As a society we are all looking for ways to lessen our carbon footprint thus the increase in the use of electric bicycles or as they are also called power or pedal assist bicycles. Along with our aging population pedalling the traditional bike is becoming a burden to a few cyclists. Thus it was with no surprise to find two entities such as these join to outfit the move into the electric bicycle era.
