Alert From IKEA: Typographical Error in Press Distribution Mistakes Edible Flower Suggestion. Narcissus can be Toxic if Eaten

The recently distributed IKEA "Summer Living" Press Newsletter - sent to journalists only (not consumers) - reads:

“Little touches make a big difference. Freeze small, edible flowers like Narcissus in ice cubes to add a fun, festive touch to cocktails. Or use mint leaves for extra flavor.”

We apologize for a typographical error that suggests putting Narcissus in ice cube trays. The flower Narcissus can be toxic, if eaten.

The message we intended to deliver is:

“Little touches make a big difference. Freeze small, edible flowers like Nasturtiums in ice cubes to add a fun, festive touch to cocktails. Or use mint leaves for extra flavor.”

IKEA has sent an urgent email correction to all journalists that received the “Summer Living” Press Newsletter, and are following up with phone calls to ensure receipt. We sincerely hope we have not caused any inconvenience. Please do let us know if we can assist your communications. IKEA USA Public Relations.
