San Jose, CA (PRWEB) March 22, 2010
This spring, Henley-Putnam University will continue its exclusive webinar series with Insider's Guide to the Counterintelligence Community, led by Colonel Michael Angley, former U.S. Air Force Special Agent and Senior Military Advisor to Henley-Putnam University.
Insider's Guide to the Counterintelligence Community will take place Wednesday, March 31, from 11:00 AM - 12:00 PM PST. Those interested should register here: https://www2.gotomeeting.com/register/533883986. The webinar is open to the public and completely free of charge.
During the free webinar, Colonel Angley will provide a broad overview of the field of counterintelligence (CI), an often misunderstood and mysterious subset of both the intelligence and law enforcement communities. He will discuss the formal definition of CI as it appears in current Executive Orders, as well as break it down into more simplistic and practical terms. He will also discuss the differences between defensive and offensive approaches to CI, the major agencies that have a CI mission, and the limitations the U.S. government places on the conduct of CI activities.
"Counterintelligence tends to be an esoteric, gray realm of the intelligence and law enforcement communities, and as such, is typically misperceived," said Colonel Angley. "I hope this webinar will demystify much of the misperception and serve to encourage people to consider a career in CI."
The series, launched in 2009, was designed to bring the hands-on, insider experience of Henley-Putnam faculty members - comprised of former members of the CIA, Secret Service, FBI, and intelligence and federal law enforcement community - to those seeking careers in Strategic Security. Registration information for upcoming webinars will be announced in the coming weeks and available on Henley-Putnam's website at http://www.henley-putnam.edu/594-238.htm.
The webinar series is one of many career resources offered by Henley-Putnam University. The university's mentoring program assigns degree students with a high-level faculty or an expert mentor to support them in making career decisions. In addition, through its online career portal, Henley-Putnam helps students to research careers, explore university programs, prepare for a job search (i.e., develop resume and cover letter), locate employers and gain basic knowledge of the Strategic Security field.
