New website promises to deliver sports fans a place to come together and share their sports travel experiences. The Sports Trekker is a website started by fans who wanted to make the most out of their road trips. This spring they will reveal a list of baseball awards dubbed "The Ballpark Project".
Sports Trekker was originally found by Collin Cooper after he became frustrated with the web's lack of current sports travel information. "Sports travel is big business, I was surprised there really was not a fantastic site for fans to collaborate with each other."
Sports Trekker was designed to empower sports travel fanatics, giving them a chance to feel like a local yet still enjoy all the flavors the host city has to offer. It also promises to be many websites in one. "We are really going to utilize Twitter, Facebook fan pages among other social medias. These are the ways people connect with each other these days and it's fantastic."
The site's Twitter feed will be comprised of useful updates, insight from the wide world of sports travel and user generated content (e.g. your pictures and videos). You can follow them @SportsTrekker .
Facebook will be a key contributor to the content that will be generated on the SportsTrekker. It’s the easiest way to seamlessly communicate with other fans. It’s also the best way to follow the Sports Trekker's latest articles, giveaways, competitions and have your voice heard.
"We want a place where fans can share their experiences. We are building a site that cuts through the typical tour guide book rhetoric and delivers honest opinions about the things that matter most to the sports traveler."
What brought the most excitement to Collin's voice was when he started talking about the upcoming "Ballpark Project" awards, a breakdown of major league ballpark superlatives. "The Ballpark Project is going to mix in user generated insight and competition with our team's personal experiences. The SportsTrekker staff has been to all the major league parks but the fans provide us with our best source of information. It's going to be really fun."
To go along with the "Ballpark Project" the Sports Trekker will be publishing to it's blog three times a week (M-W-F). Blog postings will be an eclectic mix ranging from compelling original sports travel articles from great writers, intriguing videos, competitions and commentaries on relevant sports news.
"It’s a growing community and we would love to have you trek with us."
