Portsmouth, RI (PRWEB) March 23, 2010
A2B Tracking Solutions Inc. has learned that one of its top customers, The US Marine Corps, has been recognized by the Department of Defense for their leadership role in marking legacy equipment, in accordance with MIL STD 130 requirements for unique serialized asset tracking. "A2B provided the IUID Integrated Marking Carts (IMCs) that were used by the mobile marking teams for the "seek and apply" methodology cited in the award," said A2B President Peter Collins. "The Marine Corps Legacy Team, headed by Mr. Rick Triviso, richly deserves the award based upon their extensive knowledge and the vision and ingenuity they have employed to implement IUID. We are also pleased that A2B's UID Quarterly Newsletter has published articles cited in the award."
The United States Marine Corps (USMC) IUID Legacy Team was officially established in April 2008, as the lead for meeting the DoD mandate to mark Mission Essential Legacy equipment by 31 Dec 2010. The technical capabilities of the IUID Legacy team are unparalleled including an in-depth of knowledge in all areas of the Marine Corps and its equipment. The concentration of experience is reflected in the acquisition and technical expertise synergized for maximum effectiveness across every aspect of the IUID Legacy Effort.
The IUID Legacy Team held a clear and ambitious vision required to execute the IUID Legacy Process. Implementation required the staffing, equipping, and deployment of Mobile Marking Teams (MMTs) to each of the Major Commands, starting with Marine Forces Pacific Command and III Marine Expeditionary Force (MEF). This effort required the creation of a collaborative and coordinated team environment.
Based on the enormous success of this team, an array of articles, presentations, and publications have been written and provided to highlight their successes and processes. In addition to articles, the IUID team has developed and delivered a vast amount of presentations ranging from the unit level to General Officers. The impact this team has made for the USMC and their adherence to DoD policy has been unparalleled and continues to draw interest across all the Services and industry.
There have been multiple significant impacts to the IUID Legacy Team's planning and execution of the USMC Legacy effort, ranging from the increased awareness of IUID and its benefits for Program Managers across the USMC to the actual IUID marking and registering over 17,000 Principal End Items (PEIs) over the past six months. The most significant impact has been the validation of the Legacy process and the notion of "Seek and Apply". The inaugural set-up and deployment of a thirty plus man Mobile Marking Team (MMT) to Okinawa, Iwakuni, Fuji, and Hawaii for ninety days was a monumental undertaking and an even greater success. Not only was the distance and associated logistics daunting--over 7,000 miles--but also the fact that the Legacy Team was so focused, driven, and prepared that they were able to achieve their performance goals ahead of schedule and below cost.
The award was made during last month's UID Forum by Ms. LeAntha Sumpter, (Deputy Director for Program Development and Implementation, Defense Procurement & Acquisition Policy in the Office of the Under Secretary of Defense for AT&L) and Mr. Robert Leibrandt (Deputy). In addition to Mr. Triviso, team members include Mr. Lindo Bradley, Ms. Jennifer Helton, Major Brian Spooner and Mr. Brian Duval, Ray Johnson and Ms. Beth Mathews.
