New York, NY (PRWEB) March 24, 2010
451 Research Director for Enterprise Security and a founder of Rugged Software, Joshua Corman, has published a report titled “The beginning of the end: driving an era of rugged software.”
Key Findings of the Report:
Software has increasingly become modern infrastructure. Ones and zeros permeate most aspects of our daily existence. Yet software is not nearly as trustworthy or reliable as other types of infrastructure. Those of us in security have become painfully aware of the seemingly infinite vulnerabilities in digital infrastructure. The Internet is not an information superhighway, but rather, it is a battlefield. Practitioners spend millions of dollars every year deploying critical patches to vulnerable software. Criminals leverage weaknesses in software and applications to perpetrate breaches of identity, credit card data and intellectual property. Nation-states, too, exploit weak software for myriad purposes, threatening our physical, economic and national security. Since we depend on software as foundational infrastructure, it must be up to the task. We can do better. We need to end this fledgling era of software and begin an era where our digital infrastructure is Rugged.
