Kansas City (PRWEB) March 25, 2010
Massage therapist and WellSpring | MTTI (http://mtti.net) instructor Kevin Deal knows what it takes to get healthy and trim, but putting that information into action isn’t always the easiest.
“The biggest problem I have is portion control. There is a salad. And then there’s a ‘Kevin salad,’” he says motioning with his hands the difference between a normal-sized serving versus a super-sized one.
But practice makes perfect, and Kevin is practicing and doing with the KC Fitness Magazine Weight-Loss Competition going strong. The challenge follows 12 Kansas-Citians as they battle it out for the title of “most pounds lost.”
With the help of Jim Heatherman, WellSpring | MTTI Fitness Training and Wellness Program Manager, Kevin is learning how to control portion sizes and work out efficiently and effectively. Like most people, Kevin has a busy life with limited time to hit the gym.
"Kevin's program consists of a combination of cardio and circuit weight training to maximize calories burnt in the time he has to workout,” Heatherman says. “He's not only shredding fat, but building strength, balance and improving his overall health."
Because at the end of the day, despite the competitive nature of the competition, Kevin’s goal is to improve his wellbeing, not engage in game play, he says.
“I really don’t care what the guy next door is doing,” Deal says. “I’m doing this, and I’m doing it the right way. Winning wouldn’t be bad, but I’m really competing against myself.”
