Desires to join Northwest's most influential community of entrepreneurs.

The Seattle Chapter of the Entrepreneurs’ Organization (EO) announced today that Erik Viafore of Mountains Plus Outdoor Gear has accepted its invitation for membership. By joining EO, Viafore (http://www.ipgear.com / http://www.tinytrekker.com) becomes the 105 member in the Seattle chapter of the global organization. Worldwide, EO enjoys a membership of 7300 entrepreneurs and business owners.

Viafore, who founded his online specialty outdoor equipment company in 1995, is typical of many of the entrepreneurs invited to join local EO chapters: He is one of the first to market outdoor gear online; as a pioneer, he had to develop his company concept and e-commerce systems from scratch; and he is just as enthusiastic today about his enterprise as he was the day he launched it.

“I started Mountains Plus because I wanted to do something I really enjoyed, and I saw an unfilled need in this industry,” says the busy Viafore, who still makes a point of spending time outdoors with his family. “And now I’ve joined the Entrepreneurs’ Organization because I want to be a part of a network of successful peers and entrepreneurs so I can continue growing as a person and as a business.”

Founded in 1993, EO Seattle is the Northwest’s leading organization for entrepreneurs. Its members are engaged in forum-based groups that strive through a peer-to-peer environment to grow their businesses, improve their lives and contribute to the community at large. One of the ways the Entrepreneurs’ Organization supports members is by helping them face common challenges together.

Matt Wimmer, president of the Seattle EO chapter, says: “Building and owning a business can be very lonely, and EO allows us to collaborate with and learn from like-minded peers. Seattle members are not just great thinkers, but they take action. They are continually asking themselves, ‘How can what I do change the world?’”

Wimmer reports that, “from muffins to nano-technology,” Seattle EO members bring a rich diversity of business models to the table. “Erik and Mountains Plus Outdoor Gear bring yet another diverse business and great entrepreneurial experience to the organization,” he says. “We are thrilled to welcome him.”
