EclipseSource, the leading provider of Eclipse runtime products and services, today announced the Technology Preview of Yoxos 5 at EclipseCon in Santa Clara. This preview introduces the Yoxos Launcher, an innovative Eclipse provisioning technology that provides significant productivity gains for developers working with the Eclipse IDE. The preview marks the launch of a closed beta program leading up to an open beta set for early May.

Using Yoxos 5 and the new Launcher technologies, developers can now easily associate Eclipse Workspaces with corresponding tools and configurations. The Launcher provides individual developers the ability to move quickly from project to project by creating a completely configured Eclipse Workbench for each context. Teams can share configurations, synchronize centrally and share updates. The Launcher utilizes a cloud based repository to further enhance performance and functionality.

"Making Yoxos 5 fast, convenient and flexible has been our goal," says Jeff McAffer, CTO of EclipseSource. "By moving to a data-driven model, we've been able to create a provisioning tool that improves productivity by matching how developers work."

Yoxos 5 forms part of an updated product strategy for the Yoxos technologies. EclipseSource will announce further details of the strategy over the coming months.

"We want to make the Yoxos Launcher technology available to different developers in ways that meet their needs," says Jochen Krause, CEO of EclipseSource. "We'll be offering Yoxos 5 free for Open Source projects and for commercial developers in a simple, scalable, subscription model."

More information on the Yoxos 5 Beta program is available on the Yoxos 5 site.
