InventHelp®, America's leading inventor service company, announces that one of its clients, an inventor from Massachusetts, has designed a device that could help to prevent a trailer hitch from contacting a vehicle's bumper when a user is backing up a vehicle to attach a trailer. This invention is patented.
"The Bumper Saver" L-shaped plate would slide over the hitch tongue and serve as a protective barrier, offering peace of mind when a user is hitching a trailer without assistance. The unit is designed to prevent the vehicle's bumper from being damaged. According to the inventor, the device could reduce the frequency with which the bumper must be repaired due to dents and scratches. Featuring a durable construction, the unit fits 1-1/2-inch and 2-inch trailer hitch tongues.
The Bumper Saver consists of a steel-plated, diamond-patterned accessory, which would slide over the trailer hitch tongue. The plate would feature an L-shaped design with a large vertical extension that would measure 10-1/2-inches high and a short horizontal extension that would measure 2-1/2 inches long. The plate would measure 14-1/2 inches wide. The top corners of the vertical leg would be round. A rectangular hole would be positioned in the center of the bottom of the plate to accommodate the insertion of the trailer hitch tongue. A bracket featuring a raised portion in the center would be affixed to the top portion of the horizontal leg to connect the device to the trailer hitch tongue. The bracket would be held in place by two bolts on either side. Two 2-inch rubber squares would be used to mount the plate as well.
