Chicago-based advertising agency Plan B® [The Agency Alternative] has completed a makeover of its mobile website to better accommodate the increasing number of people who access the Internet via smart phones and mobile devices. Plan B’s initiative to optimize its online experience for people on the go was strategically completed in concert with the posting of an outdoor board in the city’s busy West Loop district, which prominently featured the mobile URL. “So many consumers are accessing the web via cell phones and other hand-held devices these days, especially in commute,” said Clay Cooper, Director of Client Services at Plan B. “We’ve had a mobile site for years, but wanted to be sure we had our best foot forward for this growing audience. As marketers, it’s important to lead by example and practice what you preach. In this case, it meant investing in the mobile experience.
“We evaluated our Flash site, considered how that content could be better presented for hand-held consumption, and then thoughtfully revamped the mobile site for easier navigation…remaining consistent with our brand.”
The revamped Plan B mobile site features much of the same content from the agency’s Flash-based website (http://www.thisisplanb.com), which was recently named a Google Favorite Place based on site traffic. Content on includes video case studies and creative samples from the agency’s online portfolio. The site also encourages prospects and clients to connect socially via Facebook, Twitter, LinkedIn, and YouTube, or directly by email or phone.
“That was a big part of the planning process for us – thinking about how people are using their devices to connect instantly these days. We’re constantly inviting people to engage us, because today’s marketing is all about creating and sustaining dialogue,” said Cooper. “Of course, we love having people come to browse…but what we really want is to create a relationship. And the updated mobile site lets people connect with us on their terms – however, and now wherever, they’re most comfortable.”
With the smart phone market Plan B anticipates more and more companies will be looking to optimize their mobile presence, and expects their website to serve as a case-in-point example of how it can be done.
