Board Certified Addiction Medicine doctor is back as the Florida treatment facility's Medical Director

Dedicated to recovery, renewal and the rebuilding of life

We are honored to have Dr. Murphy back, working hand-in-hand with us to provide the best quality addiction treatment services for our patients.

Twelve Oaks Alcohol and Drug Treatment Center is welcoming William Murphy, D.O., back to its campus. But Murphy isn’t there to readmit for the Center’s renowned treatment services; he’s back to enhance them as Twelve Oaks’ Medical Director.

Dr. Murphy served as Twelve Oaks’ Medical Director from 1989 to 1993. He also was Medical Director for Twelve Oaks’ sister facility, Bowling Green Brandywine, in Kennett Square, Pennsylvania for eight years.

“We are honored to have Dr. Murphy back, working hand-in-hand with us to provide the best quality addiction treatment services for our patients,” said Bob Lehmann, Executive Director of Twelve Oaks.

Located in Navarre, Florida, Twelve Oaks is a 102-bed residential addiction treatment facility for adults and adolescents. In addition, the facility treats patients with chronic pain and Post-Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD). The five-acre, beach-bordering campus provides the ideal serene setting for treatment.

Dr. Murphy’s broad experience includes 30 years treating addictions with 15 years as Medical Director for substance abuse facilities. He also has served as a primary care physician, and worked in emergency room and urgent care settings. Dr. Murphy’s prestigious accomplishments include receiving the Wendell Rollason Award for which he was recognized as the “model physician” for the healthcare systems in the State of Florida.

Dr. Murphy is among the first group of physicians in America to be recognized as Board Certified in Addiction Medicine. Last May, he was honored at the American Board of Addiction Medicine awards luncheon in conjunction with the 40th Annual American Society of Addiction Medicine Medical-Scientific Conference. He is twice past president of the Florida Osteopathic Medical Association (District 7) and is a Vietnam combat infantry vet, having received a Purple Heart and Combat Infantry Badge.

As for returning to Twelve Oaks, Dr. Murphy says simply, “I am happy to be back.”

For more than 25 years, Twelve Oaks has helped adults and teens suffering from drug dependency, addiction and chronic pain. Licensed by the Florida Department of Children and Families and accredited by the Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities, Twelve Oaks provides a uniquely serene environment in which clients can begin the recovery process under the care and guidance of dedicated and experienced professionals in the fields of drug rehabilitation and chronic pain management.
