On March 18, 2010, the President signed into law the Hiring Incentives to Restore Employment (HIRE) Act, to stimulate the hiring of new workers. The bill rewards job creation with a payroll tax holiday through December 31, 2010 for qualifying employees and up-to-$1,000 additional tax credit for employers who retain these qualified workers for 52 weeks.
