The task of home maintenance, sometimes daunting to new homeowners, just became much easier thanks to an agreement reached today between Blanket Home Warranty Ltd. and CONASYS Consumer Assurance Systems Inc. Blanket is an innovative new home warranty company with its head office in Edmonton, Alberta, while CONASYS, which operates out of Vancouver, British Columbia, is the leading supplier of web-based after sales tools for the construction industry. Under the agreement, Blanket will supply each home it gives warranty coverage to with a Maintenance Advisor package from CONASYS and will offer an upgrade to CONASYS’s full Home Information Package.
New homes are made up of hundreds of components, and most of these require specific care and maintenance to ensure proper operation and warranty coverage. Builders and new home warranty providers will usually provide a printed maintenance checklist that outlines general tips to a new home owner. The Maintenance Advisor package now offered by Blanket Home Warranty goes much further, including a fully searchable online checklist that will also send homeowners maintenance reminders via email. The emails are sent when specific maintenance tasks are due, reminding homeowners to visit their online checklist for more detailed instructions. Also included in the package is a high quality printed version of the Blanket maintenance manual, outlining key maintenance tasks that must be done to protect the value of a new home, as well as a unique home ID and password with instructions on how to log on and use the web-based Maintenance Advisor.
Both companies will encourage builders who use Blanket Home Warranty coverage to upgrade the Maintenance Advisor package provided by Blanket to a full CONASYS Home information Package. In addition to what Blanket is already supplying the homeowner, a Home Information Package would provide online access to all maintenance, operating and warranty documentation for every product used in the construction of a home, as well as contact information for all manufacturers, suppliers, and installers. With this upgrade, when a warranty-based maintenance tip calls to “refer to manufacturer’s instructions” a simple click of the mouse can instantly call up the exact document required.
