Robert McNeill to lead panel focused on why, when and how SaaS should be adopted in the federal government

This conference provides a fantastic opportunity for government IT purchasers and users, and software, hardware and services providers to deeply understand the real-world SaaS and Cloud strategies being implemented within the government

The continued growth of Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) is helping to reshape government IT. The combination of a lower upfront investment commitment, combined with increased business agility, ease of use and potentially lower longer-term costs are driving accelerating use of SaaS. Planning for, implementing and achieving ROI from SaaS requires government IT and users take an active role in the selection, management and measurement of new Cloud- and SaaS-based offerings.

In support of these issues, Saugatuck Technology VP of Research Robert McNeill (see http://bit.ly/c2MehX) will lead a panel of senior government and public sector executives at this year's SIIA SaaS/Gov conference, to be held April 5, 2010 in Washington, DC. Joining Mr. McNeill in the 3:45pm-4:15pm session, entitled "Cloud Computing from a Government User's Perspective," are James Gatz, Program Manager, Office of Community Services, United States Department of Health and Human Services; Joyce Williams, Human Resources Director, City of Arlington, Texas; and Jeanette Willis Saunders, Acting Chief, Administration & Performance Management, Cleveland Airport System. These business and public sector leaders will brief the audience on new developments related to SaaS in their respective organizations. Key topics to be explored with the panel include how best to plan for, contract and secure SaaS solutions in the government; how and when to transition Government users to new SaaS applications; and how vendors and services providers should work with the government to support new Cloud- and SaaS-based initiatives.

"This conference provides a fantastic opportunity for government IT purchasers and users, and software, hardware and services providers to deeply understand the real-world SaaS and Cloud strategies being implemented within the government - as well as to learn from and benchmark against peer organizations," stated McNeill. "Further, we are very excited about kicking off our new Industry / Research Partner relationship with the SIIA at SaaS/Gov, and helping to make it a terrific event for all of the event participants and sponsors."
