Dr. Robert Cox will manage Signatech Systems to maintain its excellence in intelligent asset management and to assure year-on-year doubling of revenue. Dr. Cox had previously collaborated and contributed to Signatech Systems. In the coming years, he is expected to leverage company's earlier successes to developing products that improve the reliability of the nation's electricity infrastructure and improve performance. The current president will take an indefinite leave as he serves as the Vice President for Technology Innovations for a major United States electric utility.
He is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the University of North Carolina (UNC) at Charlotte. His current research is focused on non-intrusive diagnostics for rotating machines, power-electronic drives, and power-system equipment and minimally intrusive diagnostics for industrial components. Other related work includes the development of diagnostic methods for rotating machines using wireless sensor networks. Dr. Cox has presented at various technology forums on topics ranging from wireless technology methods and the smart grid. His research work has included non-instrusive diagnsotics methods for electric power companies; and deployment and analysis of wireless technology methods for efficient data collection and analysis.
Dr. Cox received the S.B., M.Eng., and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Engineering from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Cambridge, MA. He has published over 20 journal and conference papers, and has received support from several industrial and federal research grants.
