Pira International, in partnership again with Tappi, is pleased to announce the 2nd annual Specialty Papers conference, scheduled for Wednesday, November 10- Thursday, November 11, 2010 at the Hotel Allegro Chicago, in Chicago, Illinois. This year's program will focus on the current state of the market and the latest technology and application developments in the specialty papers arena.

"In 2009 nearly 150 people attended our inaugural event proving that the specialty paper industry was in need of a forum to discuss the issues important to them," said Barbara Rojas, senior conference producer at Pira International. "The 2010 Specialty Papers program will offer attendees an opportunity to learn about the innovative developments in the paper industry and discuss the creative ways that companies are responding. Plus, building on last year’s successful program, the conference will examine the progress toward making the industry sustainable and what the future holds.”

Specialty Papers 2010 will feature approximately 18 expert presentations assessing market trends, technical development and application related advances through presentations, question-and-answer sessions and panel discussions. Topics new to this year’s agenda include an update on the Chinese specialty papers market; choosing specific market pulps for various grades; and in-depth looks at packaging paper markets and developments; life cycle assessment and regulations and certifications.

Last year’s co-chairs Ken Patrick, Pulp & Paper Publications Technical Lead for TAPPI and Senior Editor of Paper 360° Magazine; Charles Klass, President of Klass Associates; Frank Perkowski, President of Business Development Advisory; Tom Rodencal, President of Rodencal Paper Consulting Inc.; David Cutler, Expert Process Engineer at Domtar Inc., and Dr. Frank Adamsky, Market Development Manager of Unidyne Products at Daikin will be joined for the 2010 event by Steve Rosenberg, Senior Director, Business Development and Innovation for Neenah Paper’s Technical Products business.

Throughout the conference, there will be a number of hosted luncheons, breaks and receptions, which will be held in and around the exhibit area located outside the main conference room. Sponsorship and exhibition opportunities will be available.
