Davis’s Q & A for the NCLEX-RN® Examination by Kathleen A. Ohman, published by F.A. Davis Company, is a multi-media package that offers nursing students a complete roadmap to success on the NCLEX-RN® Examination. It’s also the first Q & A review book written for the 2010 NCLEX-RN® test plan.

5,012 questions in all—2,038 in the book and 3,005 unique to the CD-ROM packaged with the text—cover every topic and type of question found in the exam. Among the questions are 1,340 alternate-item-format questions, more than any other NCLEX-RN® review product, and 88 chart/exhibit and 32 hot-spot questions in the book. Davis’s Q & A for the NCLEX-RN® Examination also offers web-based resources online at DavisPlus where students will find audio and graphic format questions as well as five exam-prep audio podcasts.

“Today’s time-pressed, technologically-savvy students want to be able to study where, when and how they want,” said Robert Martone, Publisher, F.A. Davis Company, ”whether that happens to be in the library reading a book, at the coffee shop reviewing materials on their laptop, or in the park listening to their iPods. They also need well-written practice questions and tests that prepare them for the questions they’ll encounter on the actual exam. This new multi-media resource meets all of their needs exceptionally well.”

Dr. Ohman lays out a three-step approach to preparing for the exam that includes guidance for identifying areas of weakness and improving performance. She also offers test-taking tips and NCLEX descriptors for every question as well as rationales for both correct and incorrect answers.

Section I offers an orientation and review of test-taking strategies with guidance for international and repeat test-takers. Section II features 60 practice tests over six chapters, all with NCLEX descriptors for each question. Each chapter corresponds to one of the exam’s major subject areas and also features specialized, stand-alone tests for pharmacology, management of care, and cultural diversity. Section III presents two comprehensive exams that test mastery of all subject areas covered in the book and on the NCLEX-RN.

The CD-ROM features 5,012 questions, 3,005 unique to the CD, plus all 2,038 questions from the book. Students can take a 275-question comprehensive exam or design their own exams based on specific content areas, client need categories and subcategories, cognitive level, integrated processes, or phases of the nursing process.
