Bruce Lee died an early death in 1973 after revolutionizing martial arts movies, but left behind a legacy of inspiration that can still be found today. Ernie Reyes Jr. founder of Smasher Martial Arts (a martial arts production company and training center based in Newport Beach, CA.) credits Bruce Lee as a primary source of inspiration for training, development, and production of martial arts entertainment projects and the opening of his new studio in Newport Beach.

Ernie Reyes Jr. made his film debut when he appeared in the Motown-Tri Star production, The Last Dragon, and later went on to co-star with Arnold Schwarzenegger in Red Sonja. Shortly thereafter, the Hollywood prodigy landed his very own TV series, Sidekicks on ABC. Ernie’s leap to stardom came as the role of “Donatello” in Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) and again, as “Keno” in TMNT 2 – Secret of the Ooze. In later years, Ernie had a major appearance in the film The Rundown. His memorable fight scene with the “Rock” earned him the Taurus Award for Best Fight Scene. Ernie is co-executive producer and star of the soon to be released martial arts film, The Red Canvas (http://www.RedCanvasTheMovie.com) produced in association with Smasher Entertainment.

Ernie has more recently worked behind the scenes in the stunt department for such box office hits as James Cameron’s Avatar, Indiana Jones: Kingdom of the Crystal Skull, and is credited as Tweedle Dee’s stunt double in Tim Burton’s Alice in Wonderland.

Ernie credits martial arts superstar Bruce Lee, “Bruce Lee is my hero. When I was a kid, my dream was to do martial arts in the movies. That dream became a reality. Our goal at Smasher Martial Arts is to develop the next generation of martial arts action stars! Smasher Martial Arts is martial arts for the movies!”
