New book shares the ultimate success story of one man’s journey to overcome obesity

My mission in life has always been to use my writing to inspire hope. Learning about Andrew LeClair’s life, while writing his book has been an absolute privilege, because he shares that same message of hope

Breaking nearly all of the documented long-term weight loss records – Andrew Leon LeClair has maintained a successful weight loss of 125 pounds for an unprecedented thirty years. In One Foot in Front of the Other, his candid memoir co-authored by Angel Logan, he shares how his life’s journey began with a seemingly normal childhood, but the challenging reality of his youth and family life set the tone for his accelerated path to adulthood. Food became a source of solace and comfort for Andrew as he tried to find his way through a multitude of grown-up challenges, which eventually included obesity.

Andrew initially had little interest in living a healthy life until he witnessed his father’s serious health issues, which resulted from his destructive behavior. Andrew realized that he had to find a way to prevent the same fate in his own life, and wanted to figure out how to lose the weight that hindered so many of his aspirations. After embarking upon a risky surgical weight loss procedure or gastric bypass, Andrew quickly found out that it was not an end to his problems, but the beginning of a new life with more challenges and adversity. Surgery was not enough. He had to adapt a permanent strategy to lose weight and maintain it.

Many mistakenly believe that gastric bypass is a short cut to losing weight, but there is no quick fix to weight loss. Not only are surgical weight loss procedures risky, one also has to commit himself to a complete lifestyle change to maintain that weight loss. For those still in doubt, Andrew Leon LeClair is living proof that it can be done.

Unlike many others, Andrew did not pursue weight loss for financial gain or media attention, and he did not have to challenge anyone else, to win a competition. Instead, Andrew made a commitment to change his life on his own, by taking the focus away from food, to concentrate his efforts on living a healthy and fit life – the ultimate success story!

“My mission in life has always been to use my writing to inspire hope. Learning about Andrew LeClair’s life, while writing his book has been an absolute privilege, because he shares that same message of hope,” says co-author Angel Logan. LeClair hopes that his experiences will help people to discover their inner strength, embrace their unique beauty, remind them that they are not alone in this world, and encourage them to keep moving forward, with One Foot in Front of the Other.
