Larson Electronics' magnalight.com announced the addition of an alternative to their standard tripod mount for their Class 1 Division 1, Class 2 Division 1 and Class 1 Division 2 lights for hazardous area use. The HAL-2X400MCE is the first hazardous location lighting system offered with two Class 1 Division 2 lights on the new extendable tower base system.

Larson Electronics released a new form factor for elevating portable explosion proof lighting. The HAL-2X400MCE offers two Class 1 Division 2 lights with an extendable aluminum tower base system. The new tower base is approximately three foot square with an extendable upright that can elevate the lights from 5 feet to 9 feet. Operators can use the tilting upright to lean the weight of the lights back on a support yolk. From there they can more easily adjust the height of the lights or use the upright to actually move the wheeled base into a new position. Once the operator sets the height and position of the light, they can tilt the upright back into place and lock it down. Currently, the standard HAL-2X400MH offers a wheeled tripod and the operator sets the light height before deploying the tripod. While both models are designed for portability, this model is well suited for more stationary applications, while the newer base tower with extendable upright is better suited for applications where the hazardous location lights are deployed, moved and taken down more often. Plus the new aluminum base tower model breaks down into a smaller form factor for storage and transit.

“We have designed a new light tower system for our portable explosion proof and hazardous location lights that simply makes it less difficult to elevate, move and support these heavier lights,” said Rob Bresnahan with Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com. "Trying to push more than 70 pounds straight up using shoulder strength alone can be challenging. Our new HAL-2X400MCE allows operators to lower the lights, set the height with a pop pin and then raise it up with much less effort. Both models have their advantages, but military and industrial operators looking for explosion proof and hazardous location lighting for cleaning tanks, cells and just general hazardous area maintenance now have a choice."

Larson Electronics’ magnalight.com offers an extensive range of surface mount and portable explosion proof lighting for hazardous location areas. Commercial, industrial and military operators can choose from a wide variety of explosion proof LED lights, Class 1 Division 1 fluorescent lights for paint spray booth applications, explosion proof strobe lights and a variety of drop lights, explosion proof string lights and various flashlights for confined space entry.
