NuSil Technology has earned recognition as a Boeing Performance Excellence Award recipient for 2009 for achieving superior supplier performance

NuSil Technology LLC (, a cutting-edge manufacturer of silicone-based materials for aerospace, aircraft, electronics and photonics industries, today announced that it has received a 2009 Boeing Performance Excellence Award. The Boeing Company [NYSE: BA] issues the award annually to recognize suppliers who have achieved superior performance.

This year, Boeing recognized 486 suppliers who achieved either a Gold or Silver level Boeing Performance Excellence Award. NuSil Technology is among 358 suppliers to receive the Silver level of recognition. NuSil Technology maintained a minimum Silver composite performance rating for each month of the 12-month performance period, from Oct. 1, 2008, to Sept. 30, 2009.

NuSil Technology supplies silicone adhesives and coatings to Boeing for various programs. The aerospace industry has used silicone adhesives and coatings for more than five decades because of their ability to retain elasticity and low modulus over a broad temperature range. These properties provide excellent utility in space, where spacecrafts are repeatedly exposed to these extreme temperatures.

The National Aeronautics & Space Administration (NASA) and the European Space Agency (ESA) require materials to be tested per ASTM E595 prior to use in space. The materials must meet the specifications outlined in NASA SP-R-0022A and ESA PSS-014-702, with a maximum Total Mass Loss (TML) of 1% and Collected Volatile Condensable Materials (CVCM) of less than 0.1%. NuSil Controlled Volatility (CV) materials meet or exceed the < 1% TML and < 0.1% CVCM requirements. In addition, their Ultra Low Outgassing™ (SCV) materials exceed the current ASTM E 595 by an order of magnitude, < 0.1% TML and < 0.01% CVCM.
