Irvine, California (PRWEB) April 2, 2010
Operation Technology Inc. (OTI), the world's leading developer of enterprise solutions for electrical power systems, announced Hydro-Québec has selected ETAP software for electrical power system design and analysis. ETAP software provides a platform for comprehensive power system analysis including the recently standardized Arc Flash Hazard Analysis CSA Z462.
Hydro-Québec, one of North America's largest utilities, is the most recent of the major Canadian utilities such as BC Hydro, Epcor, TransAlta, Ontario Power Generation, and New Brunswick Power to select ETAP software for design, maintenance, and operation of their electrical power systems. With the capability to produce over 36,000 MW of electricity from almost 90 generating stations, Hydro-Québec namely generates, transmits, and distributes hydroelectricity primarily from renewable energy sources.
"We are delighted about the purchase of ETAP software by Hydro-Québec," said Mary Beal, Sr. Vice-President Sales at OTI. "We are confident Hydro-Québec will find significant value-added solutions with this software for their power management businesses, just as so many other utilities have and are excited about another new opportunity to help serve the Canadian energy market."
This multi-concurrent user license of ETAP software includes ETAP Arc Flash, a global solution for performing Arc Flash Hazard Evaluations. It is equipped with robust calculation methodology and analysis techniques based on the latest IEEE 1584 and NFPA 70E 2009 guidelines. The program's multiple language and unit systems for output reports make it a powerful tool in compliance with the Canadian Standards Association, CSA Z462 for Workplace Electrical Safety and CSA Z460 standard for Control of Hazardous Energy - Lockout, as well as OSHA and European arc flash standards. Its integrated features like the arc flash analyzer, energized work permits, and built-in label printing provide a cost effective implementation of arc flash safety programs by giving engineers, safety managers, and electricians all the tools they need to get the job done in one easy-to-use application.
