Albert Bailey’s The Lord's Feasts, a Prophetic View of Israel, Christ and the Church, presents the Leviticus feasts in terms of the life of Jesus Christ. Bailey writes that the seven feasts in the twenty-third chapter of Leviticus are “prophetic and ordained by God.” Bailey uses the feasts from Passover to the feast of Tabernacles to correlate with Jesus’ crucifixion and resurrection, the coming of the Holy Spirit, the rapture of the church, the great tribulation, the second coming, and the millennial reign of the Glorified Christ.

“In Egypt, the Passover Lamb, which pre-figured the death of Christ, was killed on the fourteenth day of the first month to deliver the Israelites from physical bondage. Biblical historical facts prove that on this same day, about fourteen hundred years later, Jesus of Nazareth was put to death to deliver sinners from spiritual bondage. Three days and three nights after the killing of the Passover Lamb in Egypt the Feast of the Firstfruits was instituted. This day would become known as Easter Sunday. On this day the Israelites came up out of the sea which was the first day of the week, a type of resurrection and a type of first fruit from the dead . . . three days and three nights; and about fourteen hundred years later, Jesus rose from the dead on the first day of the week—on the same Sunday of the year the children of Israel came up out of the sea and became the First Fruit from the dead. At the Feast of Pentecost; fifty days later, the Lord came down on Mt. Sinai; just as He appeared in the upper room, fifty days after the resurrection of Christ, in the Person of the Holy Spirit. This feast was fulfilled on the day of Pentecost, as we became the first fruits of the Spirit,” said Rev. Albert Bailey.

“Some thirty-five hundred years ago, the Lord instituted the seven feasts found in Leviticus 23. At that time, neither Moses nor the children of Israel had any idea of their symbolic significance. We can now look back into history and conclude that these feasts were, and are, symbolically significant. While more than half of them have been already fulfilled, literally, those that remain will follow in God’s time. As time passes, we see the fulfillment of these feasts and the sovereign power of our God: to us, they become as a tale that has been told,” said Rev. Albert Bailey
