More than 1,000 attendees from throughout the Mid-Atlantic Region are expected for the upcoming SocialMediaPlus one-day business summit to discuss everything from planning, implementing and measuring social media programs in any business. The summit, planned for May 25 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center in Philadelphia, features nationally recognized speakers in 28 seminars spread through four education tracks, each relating real-world experience in the fast growing social media industry.
The four education tracks – executive, human resources, sales & marketing and information technology – each will include presentations and case studies from industry leaders experienced in adopting social media.
Speaking in the Executive Track, Sue Marks, chief executive officer for Pinstripe RPO, will discuss “Social Media and the C Suite” and explain how senior executives can harness existing social media tools and platforms to grow business.
She will be joined by Richard Pesce, senior manager, social media communications for Sprint/Nextel. His topic – Leveraging Social Media to Listen and Respond to Stakeholders – will cover how Sprint is using social media to improve customer service and to engage and strengthen relationships.
Shashi Bellamkonda, head of social media strategies for Network Solutions, will address the Marketing Track, and talk on the topic of “Small Business and Social Networking.” In his presentation, Bellamkonda will describe proper planning and implementation of a social media plan using specific tools available to small businesses.
Also speaking in the Marketing Track is Connie Bensen, the director of social media and community strategy for Alterian. In her topic – ”Measuring Social Media Effectiveness” – she uses case studies to demonstrate how successful social media applications are being measured and monitored.
Garth Moulton, founder of Jigsaw, is presenting to the sales track. His topic, “Aligning Marketing and Sales in a 2.0 World”, addresses how companies can successfully transition to the new world of sales using social media.
For the Human Resources Track, Kathy O’Reilly, director of social media for Monster.com, will speak about ”How Organizations are Handling Social Media in the Workplace”. She will address best practices in establishing a social media policy, including developing rules of engagement, guidelines and training.
Along with the education tracks, the event will include an exposition featuring local, regional and national organizations aligned with the social media industry.
