Boston, MA (PRWEB) April 5, 2010
Pearson, a global leader in education, education technology, and services, today announced that its CourseConnect™ solution has been selected as a finalist in the 2010 Software & Information Industry Association (SIIA) CODiE Awards. CourseConnect is a library of customizable online courses with recommended course descriptions, syllabi, lessons containing rich media, graphics and interactivities, discussion questions and assessment banks.
Established in 1986, the CODiE Awards celebrate outstanding achievement across the software, digital information and education technology industries. The comprehensive review process of nominated products included intense scrutiny by subject matter experts, education industry analysts, journalists and specialists in the implementation of education technology.
Perfect for either a fully online or blended learning environment, CourseConnect delivers exceptional instruction and assessment, innovative instructor tools, and best-selling, class-tested textbooks - all essential components for directly affecting student retention and results. Customizable modules provide engaging, easy-to-follow content mapped to specific learning outcomes. Each course provides instruction, opportunities for reflection, self-assessment and practice, and activities that encourage learners to apply their knowledge and extend their learning beyond the classroom.
"Pearson's CourseConnect solutions have been developed using instructional design methods that focus on increasing knowledge retention to achieve student, faculty and institutional success," said Don Kilburn, CEO of Pearson Learning Solutions. "We are honored to be named a finalist in the 2010 SIIA CODiE Awards. With CourseConnect, we allow institutions to concentrate on their mission of student success and retention while providing them with the necessary tools to achieve those goals."
Pearson has 13 education finalists in the CODiE Awards this year, leading the prestigious competition. Pearson's innovative ed-tech solutions for schools, colleges and universities are recognized across the awards program's education categories, honoring the company's worldwide leadership in harnessing technology to personalize and improve learning. Pearson's 13 finalists were chosen from more than 327 education nominations submitted by 124 companies.
In addition to CourseConnect, Pearson products moving on to the next round of competition are the Mastering Platform, MathXL® for School, MyCourse, MyMathLab, MyWritingLab, myWorld Geography™, Miller & Levine Biology™ Digital Path, Pearson LearningStudio™, Prentice Hall Literature Online (PHLitOnline) and PowerSchool.
In the next step of the CODiE Awards process, CourseConnect will be voted on by the entire SIIA membership to determine if it is the winner of the Best Postsecondary Course or Learning Management Solution category. The 2010 CODiE Awards will be announced at the 2010 Ed Tech Industry Summit in San Francisco on May 24.
