The premiere Latin urban label Machete Music kicks off its 5th year anniversary signing Latin urban music's leading lady Ivy Queen. The Queen of reggaeton will release her new album “Drama Queen” this summer, featuring the new single “La Vida Es Así”

Machete Music, the world’s premiere Latin urban label kicked off its 5th year anniversary celebration by signing the iconic Latin music superstar, Ivy Queen.

Ivy Queen, “The Diva”, is back in full-force with “Drama Queen”, her first new studio album in over three years which features original songs filled with intense feelings and messages, reflective of the artist’s incredibly passionate heart. The first single, “La Vida Es Asi,” was written by Ivy Queen herself and is comprised of the same emotion and passion that have propelled her songs to the heights of popularity in the past but with new musical fusions that define an evolution in the Ivy Queen sound. The production for the album was handled by the elite names in urban music including Luny, Tainy, DJ Blas and Leny from Aventura, among others. Additionally the album will include special appearances by Franco El Gorila, Jadiel, De La Ghetto, Frank Reyes and a special collaboration with international superstars Wisin & Yandel.

"La Caballota,” has imposed her unique style on what is a traditionally male dominated urban genre. In the process she has become the indisputable lead female voice of not only Latin urban and reggaeton music but as an international icon for Latin music itself. The creator of hit songs such as “Cuéntale” and “Te he querido, Te he llorado,” now begins a new phase in her career. Her new album “Drama Queen” will introduce an evolution in her sound, image and overall presence within the music world.

To date, Ivy Queen has topped the Billboard sales charts and ruled the radio airwaves making her a leader in the genre. Her newly formed union with Machete Music promises to take the Puerto Rican star to heights that exceed her already impressive resume. Ivy Queen will play a key role at the label as it continues to celebrate its 5 Year Anniversary with events and concerts throughout 2010.
