The bundle will help smaller CSPs more easily adopt the sophisticated network monitoring capabilities used by larger service providers.
Typically, small to mid-size CSPs have limited views of their network environment and do not have proactive monitoring capabilities such as the consolidation of repeated network alerts. This can cause ongoing false alerts, which are ignored by network technicians, but increase the chance of a missing a real network warning. One missed alert can result in loss of service to thousands of customers. The IBM software provides a comprehensive view of the network, consolidating and prioritizing networks alerts, which helps prevent network outages.
Like large CSPs, small to mid-size service providers need a reliable network in order to maintain and grow their customer base. Consolidated Communications, a mid-size CSP serving customers in Illinois, Texas and Pennsylvania, needed advanced monitoring capabilities for their IP-based network, which includes telephone, high-speed Internet access and digital TV services.

According to an IBM Institute for Business Value global telecommunications study published this week, 70 percent of mobile and broadband consumers stated "network reliability" as a top reason for choosing or leaving a service provider.
The bundle includes IBM Tivoli Netcool software, which proactively monitors mobile, fixed and broadband networks to help prevent network downtime or loss of service, with implementations services by generationE Technologies.
