Los Angeles, CA (PRWEB) April 7, 2010
On Thursday, May 13, 2010, more than 1,000 C-Level executives and financial investors will gather in The Grand Lobby of 2000 Avenue of the Stars, and in the adjacent Century City Park, for the Fifth Annual MeatEaters Ball (http://www.meateatersball.org) – an exclusive night of networking, charity, dancing, deal-making…and tasty southern barbecue. This year’s Ball, which benefits two different charities, the Childrens Hospital Los Angeles (http://www.chla.org) and The BizWorld Foundation (http://www.bizworld.org), will once again be the financial communities’ event of the year.
The now “cocktail attire” affair was originally founded in 2006, by Robert K. Whyte, Managing Partner at Diamond Capital Partners (http://www.diamondcapitalpartners.com), and David L. Cremin, Managing Director at DFJ Frontier (http://www.dfjfrontier.com). In its first year, the backyard networking BBQ pulled in 120 guests. In its second year, expected attendance was 250, and the event saw more than 550 guests. In the event’s third year and at a new location, the foyer of the new CAA Headquarters, event staff planned for 500 guests, and attendance reached more than 950. Last year, in its fourth run, the MeatEaters Ball saw attendance of more than 1,100 people, raising $55,000 for charity.
The Ball, which has been referenced as the replacement for the now defunct “Predator’s Ball” – an annual event once hosted by Drexel’s Michael Milken, at the Beverly Hills Hotel – has already attracted some of private equity’s heavy-hitters, who have all signed on to attend this year’s Ball. Confirmed attendees include a long list of CEOs from firms such as Anthem Ventures, DFJ, Golden Gate Capital, Greycroft, GRP, Steamboat Ventures, WME Entertainment, August Capital and Saban Capital Group.
This year’s Ball will feature a scotch and cigar bar, a martini piano bar, a “Caribbean Delight” bar, a “Mexican Fiesta” bar, and a “California Wine” bar. The “meat” component of the Ball will once again be provided by the famous Los Angeles eatery, Woody's Bar-B-Que. The evening’s impressive sponsor lineup includes Platinum Sponsors Manatt, Phelps & Phillips, LLP; TriNet; and Vintage Filings and Vcorp Services; as well as Bronze sponsors PricewaterhouseCoopers; Safire Partners; and international public relations firm, FD.
Additional event partners include Ferrari of Beverly Hills, who will be showcasing two brand new models at the event, and The Sports Club/LA, The Golf Academy, and Beverly Hills Country Club, which will be giving away memberships for event attendees, via a business card draw.
Last year, MeatEater’s Ball guests were entertained by go-go dancers spaced throughout the building’s majestic foyer – due to the popularity of the evening’s entertainment, plans for this year’s Ball do include bringing back the dancers. This annual event turns the normally conservative financial community into a crowd of revelers who come together to enjoy great food, networking, music, and entertainment, all for a charitable cause.
"This event brings together a much broader cross-section of industry types than most of Los Angeles’ similarly-sized networking events, which results in a dramatically more efficient and enhanced networking experience," says Mr. Cremin.
Mr. Whyte adds, "This event is networking-only – there is no panel discussion or other sort of presentation portion of the event. This format creates an ideal environment for less forced, more organic, and successful networking amongst attendees."
The 2010 MeatEater’s Ball will be held on Thursday, May 13, from 6:00-11:00 PM, at 2000 Avenue of the Stars, Los Angeles, CA 90067. Tickets for the event are $150 during April, with prices rising to $175 each as of May 1. Ticket prices include open bar, barbecue dinner (leaf-eater options will also be available), and the evening’s entertainment (TBA). The event hosts request cocktail attire for the evening, and both valet and self-parking will be available.
