The Vision IPTV and Vx Media deal means Sri Lankans in the UK and around the world will be able to enjoy the best TV content from home where ever they are

Niche internet TV company Vision IPTV has agreed a partnership with leading Sri Lankan telecom company, Vx Media to deliver over 12 channels of Sri Lankan TV into the UK market and around the world. The agreement means Sri Lankans in the UK will be able to watch a host of premium Sri Lankan TV right alongside UK Freeview channels, all delivered via set-top box to their TV.

Vision IPTV’s solution, comprising its middleware platform, broadcast standard content delivery network and distribution to set-top box, PC and mobile is transforming how international, community and niche broadcasters approach the UK market.

“It removes a huge barrier to entry for these broadcasters, who have significant UK audiences that they have been unable to reach cost-effectively before,” commented John Mills, MD of VisionIP.

For Vx Media adding Sri Lankan TV to their highly successful telephone and internet services was a logical next step, but finding a partner with the right combination of speed to market and niche broadcast expertise meant they turned to Vision IPTV.

“Vision IPTV’s speedy turnaround, experience of community TV channels and understanding of the business model meant they were the natural choice for us,” said Raj Jeyaraj, MD of Vx Media. Viewers will be able to benefit from bundled TV, broadband and phone packages specifically for the Sri Lankan community, all offered by Vx Media.

“Our broadcast platform with its interactive schedules, flexible billing and advertising options and telecoms standard delivery network mean Vx Com has the ability to not just get their programmes out, but to market and sell them in multiple ways, monetising the opportunity and driving significant revenue for their business“commented John Mills.

Vx Media are the first business to export Sri Lankan Television to the globe and Sri Lankan Diaspora will at last be able to stay up-to-date with Sri Lankan news. “Second and third generation families will be able to maintain a Sri Lankan sense of community,” said Jeyaraj.

Sri Lankan programmes join a host of Hellenic, Polish, Russian and other niche TV channels that VisionIP provide to the UK via broadband internet including Polska Plus, Hellenic TV, Russia Today, Quod and Boatson.TV.
