Smashburger, a fast-casual “better burger” restaurant, will open its first of six Kentucky locations in Center Court, 535 S. Upper Street, April 16, 2010, near the University of Kentucky campus. The restaurant’s juicy burgers, crafted from 100-percent Certified Angus Beef, are certain to make Smashburger Lexington’s favorite place for burgers.
Lexington’s Smashburger will offer customized menu items inspired by Bluegrass State flavors. The Bluegrass Smashburger features Wild Turkey bourbon barbecue sauce, applewood smoked bacon, melted cheddar bar cheese, and fried banana pepper rings on an egg bun. Diners can also enjoy the 3 Way Smashdog made with Cincinnati chili, cheddar cheese and onions. The Bourbon BBQ Ranch Chicken Club is made with Strips of crispy buttermilk seasoned chicken, chopped applewood smoked bacon, fresh diced tomatoes, haystack onions, cheddar cheese, crisp romaine and iceberg lettuce, with Wild Turkey bourbon barbecue sauce and buttermilk ranch dressing.
Guests can quench their thirst with an Ale-8-One soft drink, enjoy an Ale-8-One Float made with Häagen-Dazs ice cream and served in a frosted mug, and regional beers from Alltech Lexington Brewing Company.
Smashburger is named for the cooking method used to create the perfect burger. Smashburger starts with a one-third or half-pound ball of 100-percent Certified Angus Beef—fresh, not frozen—smashed, seared and seasoned on a flat grill. To further the “better burger” experience, Smashburgers are served on a toasted artisan bun and topped with a selection of real cheeses, the freshest produce, and top-quality condiments.
Smashburger is known for its savory burgers, but the restaurant also serves up delicious Smashchicken sandwiches, Smashdogs and Smashsalads, with sides like veggie frites, sweet potato Smashfries and rosemary and garlic–seasoned Smashfries. Burger lovers can pair their meals with beer and wine selections as well as Häagen-Dazs shakes and root-beer floats.
