Software development firm Applicandy releases its debut app for the trucking industry, helping truck drivers track revenue, monitor deadhead miles, and manage hours of service more efficiently. iLogMiles, a driver’s daily log book application for iPhone™ and iPod touch™, is now available on the App Store.

The trucking industry has seen casualties through skyrocketing fuel prices, driver shortages, a global recession, and decreased lending from banks over the last few years, while another industry has simultaneously exploded with growth: smart phone applications. How can trucking companies utilize this technology to stay ahead?

Mobile software development firm Applicandy aims to help trucking businesses succeed with the creation of their newly-released app for iPhone™ and iPod touch™. “iLogMiles gives truckers a significant advantage,” says co-founder Bryan Hinton, “the analytics feature calculates how revenue is earned based on time, miles, and completed loads, enabling you to make more informed decisions about your business.”

According to Applicandy, the free version can track duty status records, mileage, and revenue, and can generate motor vehicle inspections and up to 5 analytics reports. Over 15,000 U.S. cities are pre-loaded into the application. iLogMiles automatically adjusts for daylight savings with the “home office” time zone, as selected by the driver. In addition, users can unlock the the ability to export a PDF template of their driver’s daily log, export motor vehicle inspections, and run unlimited analytics reports… not to mention themes.

Themes? Applicandy co-founder Zach Womack explains, “The analytics feature gives truckers a tangible incentive to use iLogMiles. At the same time, we wanted to turn an otherwise monotonous task into a fun experience. To accomplish this, we incorporated customized themes to cater to individual personalities, along with a user interface designed to look, feel, and sound like a truck.” According to Womack, the app comes complete with sound effects. Truckers can download iLogMiles from the App Store today.
