Bonita McAfee Mitchell has single handedly taken on youth social issues and now has attracted partners such as Co Founder of Death Row Records, Lydia Harris, Stevie Wonder, Salvation Army, Kellogg Foundation, Whirlpool Foundation, Berrien County Health Department, The City of Benton Harbor and the State of Michigan to name a few as well as celebrities throughout the country.

Bonita McAfee Mitchell has stitched her way into a niche market with a 12 song prevention CD entitled “Cherish Your life.” She will host the first Benton Harbor based Thread of Hope Records & Trackhead Productions CD Release Concert, introducing the prevention songs inspired from her 11 year old non-profit public charity, I’m Saving Myself. The songs are performed by McAfee-Mitchell and the youth of the City of Benton Harbor, Michigan.

The CD embraces the standard and broader meaning of abstinence and suicide. It teaches. Abstinence is not about just withholding from sex until marriage, it’s also about avoiding negative behaviors, it’s about reframing, refusing or renouncing to carrying guns, or do drugs, etc.

Suicide is not about killing the physical self but it also covers the foul play of one’s confidence, the assassination of one’s spirit, and the murder of one’s dream.

What make the CD unique are the songs that utilize the Universal Language of Music to deal with strong social issues. With its beautiful, evocative, and consistently positive undertones, the twelve (12) tracks on “Cherish Your Life,” takes the listener on a journey of subliminal healing. Like a dramatic narrative encompassing a spectrum of musical feels, “Cherish Your Life,” is all about the hard core social issues facing our youth expressed through a sense of fluidity -- moods, ideas, visions and powerful lyrics.

The music from this CD “has and will” continue to play a major role in healing the wounded souls of our youth.

The organization teaches its youth about real life issues via Music and the arts.

Their main objective is to enlighten and challenge youth to use written expressionism, popular music, and empowering information to help them stimulate their minds to make healthy choices.

"Kids need a place of visualization and the "I'm Saving Myself" program has worked diligently and successfully to teach the meaning of self love. The final product of self love is then reflected and celebrated in the performing arts of music, dance and drama." This program lives up to its motto in providing solutions and empowering youth to make healthy choices.
