Pleasanton, Calif. (PRWEB) April 8, 2010
Elluminate, Inc., the leading provider of online collaboration products serving seven million teachers and students in 170 countries, is pleased to announce that its Social Learning Consultant Steve Hargadon has been recognized as a Technology in Leadership Award winner by CUE (Computer-Using Educators, Inc.). Steve is also the founder of Classroom 2.0, a community for educators interested in using Web 2.0 and collaborative technologies, and the moderator of LearnCentral™, Elluminate's social learning network for education.
A nonprofit, California corporation, CUE's goal is to support the advancement of student achievement in the educational technology community. The award recognizes local, state, and national leaders in educational technology. Members of the broader educational technology community (not necessarily members of CUE) are eligible for recognition in this category for their contributions to advancing the mission of the organization. Past winners include Marc Andressen, John Gage, Guy Kawasaki, George Lucas, Peter Reynolds, among others. In addition, each award winner becomes CUE's nominee for the ISTE Technology In Learning Award to be announced in June 2010.
"Steve Hargadon has been an active and involved leader in education technology for a number of years," said Christine Olmstead, CUE Awards Committee chair. "Between building social networks to connect educators and pioneering community based use of open-source software and webinar tools for professional development, Steve has been an active leader in the education technology community."
"Steve is authentic," Olmstead continued. "He really cares about the beginner and makes it a point to welcome new teachers and cultivate learning experiences that are helpful and free. He finds good ways to do things for others and helps others to do the same. Most impressive of all, Steve demonstrates a selflessness and humility throughout all of his efforts, always citing what's best for students as his sole motivation."
"We are extremely proud of Steve and applaud his accomplishments," said Elluminate President Maurice Heiblum. "As a social networking pioneer and recognized change agent, Steve has shown continued leadership in the industry, helping to grow LearnCentral to more than 40,000 members and playing a key role in supporting Elluminate's mission of transforming teaching and learning worldwide."
