The Tribal Council of the Seminole Tribe of Florida today voted to approve the proposed gaming compact with the State of Florida.

Seminole Tribe Chairman Mitchell Cypress said, β€œThe new compact is good for the Seminole Tribe and good for the State of Florida. It means stability for both sides, so we can all have confidence in the future.”

The Tribal Council of the Seminole Tribe of Florida today voted to approve the proposed gaming compact with the State of Florida. The vote by the Tribal Council came shortly after noon. Details of the compact were announced yesterday at a press conference in Tallahassee with representatives of the Seminole Tribe, Gov. Charlie Crist, State Rep. Bill Galvano, State Senator Dennis Jones, and other leaders of the Florida Legislature.

Before it becomes law, the compact must be signed by Gov. Crist and approved by both houses of the Florida Legislature. It must also be approved by the U.S. Department of the Interior.
