Apptis Names James C. Fontana as Senior Vice President and General Counsel

Apptis, Inc., a leading provider of essential IT and communications services to key Defense and Civilian agencies, today announced the company has appointed James C. Fontana as Senior Vice President and General Counsel. Fontana has 25 years experience specializing in government and commercial contracts, with an emphasis on technology and related technical services, as well as network assurance systems. At Apptis, Fontana is responsible for all of the company's legal functions.

Prior to joining Apptis, Fontana served as general counsel to a number of well-known public and private companies providing technology solutions to the Department of Defense, Civilian agencies, and domestic and international clients, including Alion Science and Technology Corp., Wang Global, and BDM International. He also founded the government contracts group at Reed Smith law firm. In 2006, the Association of Corporate Counsel named Fontana Outstanding Chief Legal Officer in the Washington D.C. Metropolitan Area. In both 2005 and 2006, the Washington Business Journal named him a Top Attorney in the Washington, D.C. area. He is former adjunct professor of law at George Mason University School of Law and currently an adjunct professor in the University's MBA Program.

Involved in numerous civic activities, Fontana served a three-year term as Chairman of the Board of Easter Seals for the Greater Washington-Baltimore Region and continues to be an active fundraiser and member of the Easter Seals Board. Fontana is also a member of the Board of Directors of America Sings, Inc., a charitable group serving the interests of homeless children, and previously served as that organization's Chairman.

Fontana is a graduate of Temple University School of Law, where he was a member of the Law Review and Moot Court Board, and the received the International Trial Lawyer Association Award. He received his undergraduate degree from American University.
