H.B. Fuller Company (NYSE: FUL) is now uniquely positioned among adhesive providers in North America and globally to offer customers the ability to discover better flexible packaging solutions for a full range of laminating adhesive types during trials. H.B. Fuller has installed the production scale Nordmeccanica Super Combi 3000 Laminator at the H.B. Fuller Research, Development, and Technical Service Center located in St. Paul, Minnesota. By running trials in a production-like setting with the versatile, Super Combi 3000, customers and H.B. Fuller can more efficiently develop new products, optimize processes and solve challenging problems with solvent-based, solvent-free and water-based laminating adhesives for flexible packaging.

"We are thrilled that H.B. Fuller has opted to make this unique investment in flexible packaging," said Giancarlo Caimmi, General Manager, Nordmeccanica N.A., Ltd. "And as industry leaders, Nordmeccanica is pleased to take part in this investment."

The Nordmeccanica Super Combi 3000 is a full production scale laminator (52" wide) that can run up to 1,300 feet of film per minute. During trials, H.B. Fuller can now emulate real production speeds and solve potentially challenging problems customers may face during their own manufacturing process. The 2-zone dryer makes it possible to run solvent-based and water-based laminating adhesives while the World Mixer, a state-of-the-art meter mixing unit, provides the ability to run solvent-free laminating adhesives. The laminator also has two Enercon corona treaters that ensure a strong adhesion to the films. H.B. Fuller's production scale laminator is capable of running all laminating adhesive types at production conditions.

For H.B. Fuller, this move represents a significant investment and commitment to the flexible packaging industry that spans 20 years. "No other adhesives provider in North America can offer customers real production scale trials with H.B. Fuller's level of flexibility and customization," said Brendon Kryzer, Global Business Director Flexible Packaging, H.B. Fuller. "We are excited about the opportunity to continue our commitment to flexible packaging through strengthening our ability to focus on providing innovative adhesive solutions that solve problems for customers."

Just one year ago, H.B. Fuller made another significant investment to strengthen its global flexible packaging adhesive portfolio and help customers better address market needs by acquiring German-based Nordic Adhesives Technology GmbH. The acquisition significantly expanded the company's flexible packaging technology and expertise to provide high performance hot-melt, water-based and reactive heat seal adhesive formulations. The Nordic acquisition and installation of the Nordmeccanica Super Combi Laminator further demonstrate H.B. Fuller's commitment to helping flexible packaging adhesive customers discover better adhesive solutions.

The new laminator is currently in operation.
