A new breed of Moose is traveling south of the border...from Canada to the United States. Adding a twist of lime to its successful light beer product, Moosehead Light, Moosehead Light Lime is now available in six states: Maryland, Massachusetts, Minnesota, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and Rhode Island.
Moosehead Light Lime is the first light lime premium import product in the United States, with only a handful of competitors in a new high-demand category. The light-lime beer category grew approximately 50 percent in 2009.
“Moosehead Light Lime is a new entry in a growing category and attracts attention in the off-premise,” says Andrew Oland, president of Moosehead Breweries (http://www.moosehead.ca) and the sixth-generation Oland to lead the company “As Canada’s oldest independent brewery, we’ve been perfecting the art of refreshment since 1867. Our brewmaster’s freshest new idea brings beer consumers the crisp, clean taste of Moosehead Light, with a twist of 100 per cent natural lime flavor.”
Moosehead Light Lime was launched in June 2009 in Atlantic Canada. The light-lime brew exceeded the brewery’s forecasts and outsold its multi-national competitor’s lime offering in the region. Moosehead Light Lime was the most successful product launch for Moosehead Breweries in the past 25 years. The Moosehead brand grew plus-158 percent when it was on feature and display in 2009 (52 weeks Oct. 4th IRI)
Moosehead Light Lime’s packaging features vibrant colors but is still recognizably Moosehead,” Oland notes. “With summer on its way, our premium quality beer and eye-catching packaging puts Moosehead Light Lime firmly in the limelight.”
Moosehead Light Lime will be sold in 12-pack bottles in MA, MD, MN, NJ and RI with an average price of $12.99 per pack. In Pennsylvania, 24-pack bottles will retail at $21.99 on average.
