The San Antonio real estate market is showing signs of recovery as the Spring home-selling season nears. Realtor Matthew Resnick advises homebuyers to take advantage of the Home Buyer Tax Credit extension before it expires in April. San Antonio was rated 4th most moved to city in the nation by U-Haul for 2009 and ranks 7th largest city in the nation.

San Antonio has a strong economy—one of the strongest in the country. Part of that is thanks to our longstanding military presence. We are home to Brooks City-Base, Fort Sam Houston, Lackland Air Force Base, and Randolph Air Force Base. The Camps Bullis and Stanley are just next door.Home prices and values in San Antonio, Texas have been trending upwards since December 2009, reports leading San Antonio Realtor Matthew Resnick, indicating that the market could be taking its first steps towards stabilization. With Spring approaching, traditionally the time when many homebuyers usually purchase and move into their new homes, the numbers are expected to climb higher, as well.

“The market continues to be very favorable for buyers of San Antonio, Texas condos and homes, as well as properties in the Greater San Antonio area,” said Resnick. “Currently, homes are priced very competitively so those who have good credit or who have the cash at hand would be well-advised to seriously consider investing soon, especially if they’re also intending to take advantage of the $8,000 and $6,500 home buyer tax credits.” The tax credit, which has already been extended, is set to expire after April 30, 2010, though buyers who have already signed a binding sales contract by then can have until June 30, 2010 to complete their home purchase.
