Invictus Security Solutions announce the release of their flagship product, Secura. Secura is an innovative new security system designed to meet the increasing security and compliance demands faced by small to medium sized businesses. Historically, Invictus have been a provider of bespoke Security Consultancy to Government, Military and Enterprise Organisations.

"This focus still exists," said Tarot Wake, associate director of iSCSP and lead information security associate for Invictus in the North West, "but we were approached by many Small to Medium sized businesses that simply could not justify the expenditure on a full time Security Professional but wanted the peace of mind that their information was safe and that they had an expert to call on should they need it."

"We developed Secura with that business area in mind, with the recent highly publicised data breaches, and the new legislation that came into effect on the 6th April, everyone has to start thinking about Security. Not only through physical and technological means, but also the business processes and policies that enforce and guide staff," continued Tarot.

A Breaches Survey carried out by the Department for Business, Enterprise and Regulatory Reform (BERR) shows that companies who carry out Risk Assessments are 4 times as likely to detect identity theft

Also, 45% of companies with less than 50 staff have suffered a security incident in the last year with an average cost of £10-20,000.

These figures increase as the organisation gets larger, as the risk of exposure increases. The report also showed that 72% of companies employing more than 250 staff suffered a security incident in the last year. The highest cost reported was over £130,000.

With the new legislation that came in to effect on the 6th April 2010, the Information Commissioner can now legislatively fine up to £500,000 per data breach

"With the new legislation in place, it is only a matter of time before we will start to see record fines. Secura now provides the framework for Policy, Procedure and Technology to work hand in hand," said Simon Earl, Technical Director of IT Security Experts Ltd (ITSE). "Procedure and Policy need to be enforced by Technology and this needs to happen quickly to protect not only Organisations from fines, but more importantly the individuals from the ever increasing threat of Identity Theft."
