Research shows that a new polymer ingredient for shampoo and conditioners from Ashland Aqualon Functional Ingredients, a commercial unit of Ashland Inc. (NYSE: ASH), delivers a 20 percent improvement in zinc, silicone, and selenium deposition. N-Hance® SP-100 deposition polymer can replace cationic surfactants in hair conditioners and is shown to push silicone to the ends of the hair shaft.

The patent pending N-Hance SP-100, acrylamidopropyltrimonium chloride/acrylamide copolymer, delivers improved end-product attributes such as improved lather and creaminess. Test results also show this new polymer provides faster hair detangling, improved dry-comb performance and better deposition over conventional cationic polymers.
