Resource Development Company (RDC) announces the addition of a new web-based learning program on steam boiler operations as part of the ePILOT Core Competency library. With the course, "Introduction to Steam Boiler Operations," users will learn about 1) types of steam boilers, 2) water chemistry, and 3) basic operations. This program expands the ePILOT fired heaters learning content.
The course is accessible via the internet and covers important topics such as process flow, steam tables, blowdown, thermal shock, and safe warm up. While this program provides learning elements common to all power boilers, this course can be customized with site-specific terms, pictures, drawings and procedures to meet any process facility’s particular requirements.
“We are uniquely positioned to help clients meet the training requirements associated with process safety management in a cost-effective way,” said Brian Cormier, Director of Oil & Gas Solutions at RDC. “With each new release, ePILOT remains the most extensive library of web-based learning modules for addressing mandated, core competency and operations knowledge requirements.”
All ePILOT courses have been certified to stringent e-learning standards by the American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) and the American Petroleum Institute (API). ePILOT is the first web-based operator training curriculum certified by the International Association for Continuing Education and Training, allowing learners to earn Continuing Education Units (CEU). Additionally, ePILOT is designed to satisfy the training requirements specified by the mandated standards of six different federal agencies including OSHA, DOT, EPA and MMS for safe and environmentally sound operations.
"Introduction to Steam Boiler Operations" joins the over 150 learning programs in the ePILOT Core Competency Library, over 400 hours of web-based training that can be accessed anytime and anywhere via the internet. The library incorporates industry specific terminology with categories that include: Fundamentals, Equipment, Instrumentation, Maintenance, Process Operations, Production Operations and Process Safety.
