Blockader, the industry leader in the manufacture and sale of interlocking steel barricades for crowd control, has responded to market demand for a barrier which is easier to carry by introducing the "Standard Blockader," a new model which includes a steel carrying handle.

Standard Blockader barricades feature a steel center panel, measuring 9.5 inches by 5 inches. A welded steel bar at the bottom of this panel becomes a carrying handle by which the barrier can be safely picked up. The panel itself is designed as a location for the identification signs, decals, or logos of the barrier owner.

"The rounded steel tube is designed so that it will not pinch or cut anyone’s fingers," says Murray Bilby, president of The Tamis Corporation, of which Blockader is a division. "The barrier can be completely balanced between your fingers, making it much easier to handle and move."

Creating a more mobile barrier was one of the main goals behind the introduction of the Standard Blockader. The barrier design features a slight reduction in the steel tubing used, and slightly slimmer uprights, compared to heavy-duty barricades used in serious crowd control situations. The lighter weight, combined with the easy-carrying feature, puts less stress on workers and makes the Standard Blockader attractive to rental companies. It is also ideal for situations such as line delineation, or the separation of pedestrians from equipment.

The Standard Blockader’s center steel panel, which is welded to the frame prior to hot-dip galvanization, provides the most prominent and customer-friendly position yet for the placement of identification signs, decals, or reflective sheeting on barriers. Some previous barricades, including older Blockader models, could accommodate the addition of optional laser cut signs, but the Standard Blockader’s panel makes it very convenient for barrier owners to add signage for publicity or inventory control.
